Being a Boomer Ain't Bad
Lyrics, Credits and Storyboard
'UNITY' is a concert march I wrote that premiered at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto Nov 1, 1998. This demo was recorded by the Central Band of the Canadian Forces on Dec 6, 2000. The music symbolizes the ability of two cultures to coexist in harmony when based on the same foundation of values; as depicted when the first and third themes, that have the same chord structure, are played together in counterpoint. The full band score and all parts are available in PDF for you to print. Two versions are available. The original has a challenging range for 1st trumpet and 1st trombone after the key change. The high school version does not have the key change so the parts are within normal playing range.

UNITY (Concert March)
The Athlete (Processional March)
Listen to a demo of 'The Athlete'. As program music, it can depict the entry of athletes into a stadium; but can also depict the life of an athlete who advances from an amateur, with few supporters, to successful star who gets much more attention and fanfare. However, in the drive to become world class, to rise to that 'next level', an athlete must overcome personal challenges such as injury. Dedication and support bring the athlete, and the listener, to the next level of success. But all success is fleeting. Eventually time will force an athlete to fade from the spotlight. Will the athlete go quietly into the night or will there be one last push for a comeback to finish a career with a taste of glory? Listen and you decide.
